Karachi, – A high-level Ethiopian delegation comprising senior government officials and climate experts arrived in Pakistan on Friday to formally launch the “Plant Fraternity” initiative, aimed at promoting environmental cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation was received at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport by Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, along with Honorary Consul H.E. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, officials from Ethiopian Airlines, and representatives of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their week-long stay, the delegation will visit Islamabad and Lahore to participate in a series of “Ethio-Pakistan Green Dialogues” and lead mass plantation drives. The program is being coordinated by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad under the framework of Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s Green Legacy Initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker highlighted the symbolic and practical importance of the visit. He described it as “a clear manifestation of the growing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Ethiopia,” adding that it sends a strong message to the international community that Pakistan is “not alone in its fight against climate change.”
The ambassador reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to deepen both bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in addressing global environmental challenges.
