GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) – Affordable healthcare services expanded to Gatlinburg a year ago, and since then, the clinic has seen strong growth in patients needing their services.
The Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic expanded to a second location in Gatlinburg last year.
They said the need for healthcare and the support from the community had exceeded their expectation.
Providing discounted medical care, screenings and mental health closer to home, they also have pharmacy services to help with the cost of medicine.
August is National Wellness Month, and the clinic said they saw a need in Gatlinburg for patients who didn’t have transportation.
“We discovered the need for this clinic because we discovered our Gatlinburg patients were taking the trolley to the furthest they could take them, which would be the Sevierville Walmart, and then walking the two-plus miles to get to the Sevierville location. That’s when we knew we had to have a clinic closer to them,” said Shaun Fulco with the Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic. “At Mountain Hope, we serve the uninsured who live or work in Sevier County. We’re not a free clinic, but you are a charitable clinic, and we’re working hard every day to bring quality, compassionate health care to everyone.”
The nonprofit medical provider held an open house on Thursday and Friday to help new patients who don’t have insurance get established with them.
