Islamabad (International Desk) The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) staged a walkout from the National Assembly on Friday in protest against a statement by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The session, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, witnessed strong reaction from PPP lawmakers. Party leader Naveed Qamar told the House that although discussions had previously been held with the government team, “the ground situation remains unchanged. We cannot be part of this House until conditions improve. Therefore, we walk out as a mark of protest.”
Following the walkout, government members approached PPP leaders and persuaded them to return, after which the opposition party resumed its participation in the session.
Analysts note that the incident underscores ongoing political tensions between the ruling PML-N and its coalition partner PPP, despite their cooperation at the federal level.
