Lahore: Report by M.Shezad The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus (DLA, I.T.I), inaugurated a Flood Relief Desk in front of the UVAS Outdoor Hospital as part of the university’s Flood Relief and Assistance Campaign 2025. The initiative aims to support flood-affected families and the livestock farming community in the hardest-hit areas of Punjab.
Under this campaign, students, faculty, and staff of UVAS will collect and distribute essential relief materials including medicines, food rations, milk and juice packets, mineral water, blankets, clothes, tents, animal feed, and veterinary medicines.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Younus urged students and staff to actively participate in the humanitarian effort, emphasizing that “UVAS will utilize all its resources for this noble cause.” He also appealed to employees to contribute Zakat donations to help save lives and assist those devastated by the floods.
Earlier, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, chaired a meeting of the Organizing Committee to devise a strategy for veterinary services, vaccination drives, and nutritional support for affected livestock. Principals of UVAS sub-campuses, including Prof. Dr. Iahtesham Khan (CVAS Jhang), Prof. Dr. Rizwan Yousaf (KBCMA-CVAS Narowal), and Dr. Absar Ahmad (PVI Layyah), along with Registrar Sajjad Hyder, attended the meeting in person and via video link.
Committees were formed for fundraising, vaccine collection, and field operations to ensure veterinary care reaches flood-hit farming families. Dr. Durrani announced that UVAS flood relief teams—comprising students and faculty from sub-campuses—will deliver food, medicines, and veterinary services directly to the affected areas.
She added that UVAS will host a Donor Conference on October 7 at the City Campus to raise maximum donations. Alumni abroad and representatives from the livestock, poultry, meat, dairy, and pharmaceutical industries are expected to participate.
