Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi claimed on Sunday that during what he termed the “Battle of Truth” Pakistani forces had shot down seven Indian aircraft and captured 22 Indian outposts, remarks made during an address in Rawalpindi.
Speaking at the event, Abbasi said Pakistan’s defence capability had prevailed despite being comparatively outnumbered — “Even if we have one plane and the enemy has ten, even if we have one soldier and the enemy has twenty, we defeated the enemy,” he asserted, attributing the figures about aircraft and outposts to Pakistan’s actions.
Abbasi also issued a broad warning to critics of the state, saying anyone who attacks the military, police or the Frontier Corps would be treated as a traitor. He posed a rhetorical question about whether those urging restraint against militants should be labelled traitors.
In the same speech the minister praised the country’s leadership and suggested Pakistan was playing a leading role in the Muslim world and Asia. He also claimed major Saudi investment delegations were due to visit Pakistan, promising billions of dollars in investment.
Abbasi concluded with partisan remarks, arguing that if Nawaz Sharif’s projects were removed from the country “nothing would remain,” and he contrasted development work in Punjab with other provinces as evidence of his party’s governance record.
