Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Palwasha Khan has strongly responded to criticism from government allies, saying that Punjab does not belong to any single political party and that the PPP should not be dragged into internal rivalries.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Senator Khan said, “The federal government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and others hold their positions because of President Asif Ali Zardari. It was President Zardari who nominated Shehbaz Sharif for the premiership — you came to power with PPP’s votes.”
She emphasized that the PPP is an ally, not a subordinate, adding:
“Do not put your internal conflicts on our shoulders. The PPP has a mandate in all provinces. Punjab is not the personal property of any one party. Criticism of the Punjab government does not mean criticism of the Punjab province — the PML-N is not Punjab.”
Her remarks come amid growing tensions between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PPP over governance issues in Punjab.
