LAHORE: A close associate of the notorious Ladi Gang was killed late last night during an armed encounter with police in the Kala Police Station limits. The deceased, identified as Umar alias Umar Khosa, was a wanted criminal involved in multiple cases of attempted murder, armed robbery, and other serious offenses.
According to police, a team led by the SHO Kala Police Station was on routine patrol near Kachi Canal, Kochha Ko Kari Road when three armed suspects on a motorcycle opened fire upon noticing the officers. Police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in a brief gun battle.
Following the exchange, police discovered Umar Khosa dead at the scene—reportedly hit by gunfire from his own accomplices. A Kalashnikov rifle and a motorcycle were recovered, while the other suspects managed to escape.
District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (R) Tariq Vilayat praised the timely and professional response of the Kala Police team, vowing that such operations would continue until the Ladi Gang and other criminal networks are completely dismantled in the Dera Ghazi Khan region
