LAHORE: Authorities in Lahore have placed security on high alert for the first Test match between Pakistan and South Africa, held at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, as part of efforts to ensure a safe environment for players and spectators.
In a statement, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said comprehensive security arrangements had been finalized for the high-profile fixture. “Foolproof security has been provided to domestic and international players, team officials, and fans,” he said.
The CCPO added that senior officers were maintaining close coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and other departments to ensure smooth operations throughout the event. Specialized units, including the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Units, have been deployed for patrol duties around players’ accommodations, designated routes, and stadium surroundings.
Kamyana noted that key areas were being continuously monitored through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and other surveillance control rooms. He emphasized the importance of maintaining traffic flow and implementing planned parking arrangements to minimize disruptions.
“Lahore Police remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and to providing a secure atmosphere for international sporting events,” Kamyana said.
