LAHORE — Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has claimed that former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s removal resulted from a “domestic dispute between two women.” Speaking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly, she alleged that the new KP Chief Minister earned the position not on merit but through “constant greetings and flattery.”
Bokhari remarked that, “Usman Buzdar was appointed on the orders of ‘Begum,’ while Gandapur has been removed on the directions of ‘Baji,’” calling it an exposure of the ruling party’s true political face. She criticized the recent change in KP’s leadership, saying that “a fake election” was held while the outgoing CM’s resignation was still pending acceptance.
The minister also dismissed claims of neglecting South Punjab, stating that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz treats the entire province equally. She highlighted that the survey of flood-affected areas is near completion and financial assistance for victims will begin soon.
Providing development updates, Bokhari shared that rehabilitation efforts in South Punjab are progressing rapidly under the “Suthra Punjab” initiative and that the “Meal Program” for children’s health is running effectively. She detailed statistics from the Punjab Livestock Card (PLC) Scheme, Green Tractor Program, and Kisan Card Program, showing widespread participation and benefits across South Punjab districts.
She emphasized that Pakistan will not allow its territory to be used for terrorism amid current border tensions with Afghanistan, calling political instability “irresponsible at such a critical time.”
Concluding her remarks, Bokhari said the Punjab government is ready for local body elections, asserting that maintaining law and order and ensuring public convenience remain top priorities.
