LAHORE — A delegation participating in the ASEAN Member States’ Capacity-Building Conference visited the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore on Thursday and held a meeting with Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar.
During the visit, the delegates received an in-depth briefing on Punjab Police’s modern infrastructure, crime-control mechanisms, service-delivery reforms, and prevailing security challenges. The delegation also toured various sections of the CPO, including the Punjab Police Museum and the Shuhada & Ghazi Walls, which commemorate the force’s martyrs and veterans.
Punjab Police presented souvenirs to the ASEAN delegation, while Ahsan Younas, Managing Director of the Safe Cities Authority, presented a special shield to the IG Punjab on behalf of the department.
IG Dr Usman Anwar said that cooperation between Punjab Police and ASEAN member states on matters of safety and security has strengthened significantly. He noted that the conference featured special sessions on AI-based policing, smart surveillance, and traffic management, reflecting shared priorities in modern law-enforcement practices.
Delegates from ASEAN countries praised Punjab’s Safe City initiatives, acknowledging their role in enhancing public safety and urban security. They said the conference would help promote the exchange of modern technologies and deepen mutual cooperation between Pakistan and ASEAN nations.
Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmad Chaudhary, Additional IG Operations Muhammad Ali Nekokara, DIG Headquarters Muhammad Abid Khan, DIG IT Mansoor-ul-Haq Rana, AIG Finance Nida Umar Chattha, AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem, and other senior officers were also present.
