Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to take immediate administrative measures to deal with the threat of urban flooding in Punjab following recent heavy rains and possible river overflows.
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister chaired an emergency meeting on the potential flooding situation in the Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers. The Chairman of the NDMA briefed him, stating that 5,000 tents have already been provided to the affected areas, with additional relief supplies being dispatched.
The Prime Minister instructed that the early warning system be made more effective and ordered urgent arrangements in Gujrat, Sialkot, and Lahore to minimize the risk of urban flooding.
