ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, toured flood-affected areas of Punjab, including Sialkot sector, Shakargarh, Narowal and Kartarpur, where he reviewed ongoing rescue and relief operations.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said General Munir was briefed on the latest flood situation as well as preparations for the next spell of monsoon rains.
Meeting with members of the local Sikh community, the Army Chief underscored that the protection of minorities and their places of worship is a core responsibility of the state. He pledged that all religious sites damaged by floods would be restored, with Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara prioritized for immediate rehabilitation.
General Munir commended the coordinated efforts of troops and the civil administration, noting that timely action had helped mitigate losses. He also praised soldiers for their resilience, professionalism and dedication in delivering relief to affected communities.
