Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken serious notice of reports regarding the leak and sale of mobile data belonging to citizens, including government officials, on the internet.
According to a spokesperson of the Interior Ministry, the minister has issued special directives to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Authority (NCCIA) and ordered the formation of a special committee to probe the matter. The committee has been tasked to investigate the data leak from all possible angles and submit a comprehensive report within 14 days.
The spokesperson further added that the government views the issue as a matter of national security and public trust, and strict measures will be taken against those found responsible.
