Kathmandu – Protests in Nepal against government-imposed restrictions on social media platforms have intensified, leaving at least 10 people dead and dozens injured.
According to reports, demonstrators began their rally by waving the national flag and singing the national anthem, before raising slogans against the government’s social media ban and alleged corruption.
Security forces responded with tear gas, rubber bullets, and water cannons to disperse the crowds. At least 87 people were injured, while authorities have imposed curfews in several areas to control the situation.
Human rights groups have condemned the use of excessive force and warned that restrictions on freedom of expression could further fuel unrest.
