Karachi – In a brazen incident highlighting rising street crime, a senior official of Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) was robbed in the upscale Clifton Bath Island area, police confirmed on Monday.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Boat Basin police station, OGRA Director Ghulam Muhammad Shahin, accompanied by engineer Aun Abbas, was walking towards the authority’s office when they were intercepted by armed assailants riding two motorcycles.
The suspects forcibly snatched mobile phones and a wristwatch from the victims before fleeing the scene. Shahin stated that he would be able to identify the culprits if presented before him.
Law enforcement officials said CCTV footage of the incident has been secured, showing the suspects making their getaway. The investigation is underway, though no arrests have been reported so far.
