Karachi, Pakistan — Torrential rains and flooding in Karachi and its surrounding areas have damaged both the old and new Hub canals, suspending water supply to three districts, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson for the Water Corporation, the strong water flow affected both canals, and emergency repair work is underway.
As a result, water supply to Karachi’s Central, West, and Keamari districts has been suspended. The spokesperson said that restoration would begin once repairs are completed.
The corporation also reported damage to a Sui gas pipeline crossing the Hub canal due to the floodwaters.
