Islamabad,(International Desk) — Pakistan has emerged as one of the top five countries in the world for artificial intelligence (AI) usage, according to a new survey by the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society.
The study, covering 21 nations, ranked Pakistan fourth after India, Kenya, and Brazil. Survey findings show that 26% of Pakistanis view AI positively, 39% described it as “good,” 22% expressed a neutral opinion, while 8% had a negative view and 5% held a strongly negative perception.
Researchers noted that in developing economies such as India, Kenya, Brazil, and Pakistan, citizens see AI as a source of opportunity in employment, economic growth, and delivery of government services.
Speaking at the CIO Global 200 Summit, Umair Azam, CEO of Integration Experts, emphasized that AI can significantly boost efficiency but warned that misuse could harm institutional credibility and weaken employees’ critical thinking. He urged organizations to appoint AI “champions” and adopt clear frameworks for ethical and responsible use.
Pakistan currently has more than 146 million broadband subscribers, a figure analysts say highlights the rapid mainstreaming of AI technologies among the public.
