ISLAMABAD – Report by M.Saleem jutt The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) has appointed renowned businessman and community leader Shehryar Memon as the Focal Person for Overseas Affairs and Business & Trade Linkages.
The appointment aims to strengthen Pakistan’s engagement with its diaspora, promote global trade opportunities, and ensure that the country’s youth play an active role in national development.
The PM Youth Programme, which focuses on empowering youth through skills training, job creation, and international exposure, is moving forward with a renewed vision. Memon’s appointment is part of this strategy to integrate overseas Pakistanis into the country’s development framework.
In his statement following the appointment, Shehryar Memon expressed gratitude to the PMYP Chairman and officials, calling it an honor to serve in a field close to his heart and vital to Pakistan’s future. Highlighting that more than 60% of Pakistan’s population consists of youth, Memon said they could become game-changers if provided with proper guidance, opportunities, and access to global markets. Memon emphasized that his priority would be to empower Pakistani youth, connect them globally, and create sustainable opportunities in jobs and entrepreneurship. Under Vision 2025, youth are placed at the center of Pakistan’s development agenda. Memon’s role as Focal Person will involve close coordination with the PMYP Chairman, government institutions, foreign missions, international business organizations, and diaspora networks.
