Lahore, Pakistan — The National Women Journalists Forum held a ceremony in Lahore to honor Lahore Press Club President and Federal Union of Journalists General Secretary Arshad Ansari, who has been nominated for Pakistan’s civil award Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his services to journalism.
The event, chaired by Forum President Farzana Chaudhry, brought together senior and junior women journalists from across the country. Speakers highlighted Mr. Ansari’s record of being elected President of the Lahore Press Club thirteen times, calling it evidence of his credibility and commitment to the journalist community.
Participants praised his initiative to reserve a Vice President seat for women journalists in this year’s Press Club elections, describing it as a milestone for women’s representation in Pakistani media institutions.
In his remarks, Mr. Ansari pledged continued support for women journalists, while Forum members urged that long-serving female journalists be granted council membership on merit.
The ceremony concluded with a reception and cake-cutting in his honor, attended by a large gathering of women journalists and media professionals.
