Islamabad,Pakistan’s military said on Saturday that security forces killed 35 militants in a series of operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this week, while 12 soldiers were martyred in the clashes.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations took place between 10 and 13 September in Bajaur and Waziristan. In Bajaur, an intelligence-based raid targeted militant hideouts, killing 22 fighters allegedly supported by India. In a separate operation in Waziristan, 13 more militants were killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
The ISPR statement confirmed that 12 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in the heavy exchange of fire. It further expressed concern over militants using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan, with intelligence reports indicating the involvement of Afghan nationals.
“Pakistan expects the interim Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities in preventing the use of its territory against Pakistan,” the military statement said.
