LAHORE, Pakistan Report By Muhammad Shahzad Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal and Punjab’s Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora distributed food and non-food relief items to 230 flood-affected families in Union Council Bahnia, District Narowal. The ceremony was organized under the Emergency Flood Response 2025 of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) in collaboration with Mojaz Foundation.
As part of the nationwide response across 23 districts, PPAF is providing food supplies, hygiene kits, medical camps, and livestock vaccination services. In Narowal alone, 1,500 families are expected to benefit, while the overall target is 45,000 families across 27 districts through 13 partner organizations.
Addressing the event, Prof. Iqbal stressed that the 2025 floods were a stark reminder that climate change is a current reality rather than a future threat. “This distribution is not just relief material—it is a message of solidarity and hope,” he said, pledging both immediate and long-term recovery measures.
Minister Arora underlined that unity, compassion, and interfaith harmony were essential in responding to disasters, while PPAF’s Chief of Programs Arshad Rasheed highlighted the organization’s real-time monitoring to ensure transparency. Chairman of Bait-ul-Mal, Khawaja Waseem Ahmad Butt, said effective cooperation between government and welfare bodies was vital for both immediate relief and long-term resilience.
The ceremony was attended by political leaders, civil society representatives, and local community members who welcomed the joint relief efforts.
