LAHORE, Pakistan — The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved 24 development schemes and six position papers worth Rs134 billion (approx. $480 million), covering higher education, governance, and local government sectors.
Key approvals include Rs7.45 billion for the Chief Minister’s Initiative to Establish New Colleges and Rs2 billion for the Establishment and Upgradation of University Sub-Campuses. Governance and IT projects cleared include the Punjab e-Commerce Initiative, eBIZ business facilitation portal, CM IT Internship Program, and digitization of Punjab Archives.
The largest allocation — Rs124.6 billion — has been earmarked for a flagship urban development project to upgrade sewerage, storm water drainage, and street infrastructure across 23 cities including Lodhran, Narowal, Muridke, Pattoki, and Kot Addu.
Senior officials from the Planning and Development Board, Education Department, and Local Government attended the meeting chaired by P&D Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf.
