PESHAWAR – In a historic development, Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has appointed its first-ever female officer as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
According to official reports, Aalia Ayesha Gul, hailing from Swabi district, has been posted as SSP Investigation Peshawar. The provincial police chief issued a formal notification of her appointment.
A member of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), Gul has previously served as Additional Inspector General (AIG) for Gender Affairs. She recently returned to the country after completing a professional training course abroad.
The appointment is being hailed as a milestone for gender inclusion and leadership representation within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, traditionally a male-dominated institution.
