Islamabad – Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has issued an alert warning of a dangerous spike in dengue cases across 10 major cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, starting from September 20.
Authorities said recent monsoon rains and stagnant floodwater have created favorable breeding conditions for mosquitoes, raising the risk of the country’s most severe dengue outbreak this year. The alert urged citizens to take precautions, noting that dengue mosquitoes are most active after sunrise and before sunset.
Municipal administrations have been directed to accelerate fumigation and sanitation campaigns to curb the spread of the virus.
