Islamabad – A parliamentary committee in Pakistan has sharply criticized the national Meteorological Department for issuing what lawmakers described as consistently inaccurate weather forecasts.
During the committee session, members voiced frustration over repeated errors, with one legislator pointing out that the department once predicted four consecutive days of rainfall, yet “not a single drop fell.”
Committee member Shazia Marri mocked the agency, saying, “Whenever the department claims there will be no rain, it ends up raining that very day.”
Lawmakers stressed that unreliable forecasts undermine public trust and have serious consequences for agriculture, disaster preparedness, and daily life. The committee has urged the Meteorological Department to upgrade its forecasting systems and improve accuracy.
