Islamabad, – Senior politician and former federal minister Mushahid Hussain Syed has said that India was caught off guard by the recent defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing it as a “surprise” for New Delhi.
Speaking on regional developments, he noted that India had been supporting Israeli aggression, while the United States had “betrayed” Arab states following the attack on Qatar, eroding their trust in Washington.
Mushahid further remarked that the Pakistan–Saudi pact would cause unease in Israel, adding that “the United States has destroyed its foreign policy for Israel’s sake.”
The Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (SMDA), signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, strengthens bilateral security cooperation and reflects a joint commitment to peace in the region and beyond.
Under its provisions, any external armed attack on one of the two countries will be considered an attack on both, enhancing defense preparedness and integration of military capabilities.
