Islamabad – Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that around 1,600 Pakistani troops are currently stationed in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the long history of defense cooperation between the two countries. Speaking on a private TV program, Asif noted that previously several thousand troops were deployed, and for the first time, defense collaboration has been formalized in a structured agreement.
He added that Pakistan intends to further strengthen this cooperation and may increase its military presence in Saudi Arabia. On the Gaza situation, Asif stated that any proposals from the U.S., including by former President Trump, would be discussed among Muslim nations before deciding on peacekeeping or control measures amid the ongoing crisis.
