French President Emmanuel Macron has said that U.S. President Donald Trump must play a decisive role in ending the Gaza war if he truly aspires to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaking on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Macron stressed that only Trump has the leverage to press Israel toward a ceasefire. He noted that France does not supply weapons to Israel, but the United States provides arms and equipment that fuel the conflict.
Macron recalled Trump’s UN remarks about halting seven global wars, adding that the Nobel recognition could only be justified if the Gaza conflict is also resolved. He further called for stronger international pressure on Israel to stop the fighting.
