Islamabad,(International Desk):
Former Pakistani Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has alleged that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is being used by the country’s establishment and political opponents to sideline him and his party from politics.
In his statement during proceedings in the Toshakhana-2 reference, Khan said he was ousted through an “internal and external conspiracy” and has been subjected to “extraordinary political victimization” since November 2022. He claimed that despite dozens of cases, most major references against him and his party leaders have either resulted in acquittals or suspension of sentences.
Khan questioned why only he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were being targeted in the Toshakhana case, while former premiers Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari had also acquired luxury vehicles from the state treasury without facing accountability.
Bushra Bibi, in her written statement, denied ever receiving gifts or influencing their valuation, insisting she was being implicated solely for being Khan’s spouse. She accused NAB of political bias, saying key witnesses were acting on behalf of rivals, including Jahangir Tareen and Awn Chaudhry.
Khan further alleged that Tareen, once a close ally, was later supported by the establishment to weaken PTI, especially before the February 8 general elections. PTI leaders now view the Toshakhana-2 trial as part of a broader campaign to eliminate Khan and his movement from the political landscape.
