Berlin (Voice of Germany) — At least five members of the Ahmadi community were injured when a mob attacked their homes and shops in Pero Chak, a village near Sialkot in Pakistan’s Punjab province, police and community representatives said on Monday.
The violence broke out following a dispute over the burial of a woman in an Ahmadi cemetery. According to police, the crowd set fire to several houses, shops, and vehicles, while firing injured one man.
An FIR has been registered under terrorism and other charges, naming 31 suspects and more than 200 unidentified individuals. Videos on social media showed rescue services arriving after properties were already engulfed in flames.
The attack comes amid rising incidents of violence against Ahmadis in Punjab. Last month, a well-known Ahmadi doctor was shot dead outside his clinic in Sargodha.
