Sialkot, Pakistan. Police in Pakistan’s Punjab province have filed a case after an attack on members of the Ahmadi community in a village near Sialkot, in which several homes, shops, and vehicles were set on fire and at least five people were injured.
According to the First Information Report (FIR No. 1527/25), filed by Sub-Inspector Amir Ali Sandhu at Motra police station, 31 individuals have been named and more than 200 unidentified suspects have been accused of participating in the assault. The case invokes multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including attempted murder, arson, and unlawful assembly, as well as Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The violence erupted on September 28 in Pero Chak village following a dispute over a burial in the Ahmadi cemetery. The FIR states that the mob attacked Ahmadi households with firearms, torched five residences and two shops, and set ablaze vehicles including a car and a tractor. One victim sustained a gunshot wound, while others were beaten.
Videos circulating on social media showed rescue teams arriving after much of the property had already been destroyed by fire. Rights groups have long accused authorities of failing to act decisively against anti-Ahmadi violence in Punjab.
Police say an investigation is underway, though no arrests had been reported as of Monday.
