Pakistani cricketer Sohaib Maqsood has recovered his car nine months after falling victim to a major fraud, expressing gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their intervention.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Maqsood wrote, “I want to thank Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Minister Mohsin Naqvi from the bottom of my heart for helping me recover my car after nearly nine months. Truth always prevails — Alhamdulillah.”
He also extended thanks to RPO Multan and CPO Multan, noting that both officials personally handled the matter and ensured swift action. The cricketer said that the Punjab government and police had been in constant contact with him over the past several days.
Maqsood had previously appealed to authorities for help after he was defrauded during the sale of his car through a showroom in Multan. He had shared a video on social media detailing the case, explaining how the buyer took the vehicle after paying Rs. 6 million, promising to clear the remaining amount later — a payment that never came.
After months of failed attempts to recover his money, Maqsood traced the car to Lahore, where the current holders claimed they had purchased it legitimately. When Maqsood confronted them, they allegedly used political influence to resist returning the vehicle.
In a later development, the group offered Maqsood another car — a Toyota Fortuner — in exchange for Rs. 7 million, but that vehicle turned out to have forged documents, leaving him defrauded of both money and property.
The cricketer’s persistence and the Punjab government’s direct involvement have finally led to the car’s recovery, bringing an end to a months-long legal and personal struggle.
