The club are interested in a center back — ESPN sources confirmed that they have held talks with Rennes over Jérémy Jacquet — and they have added Senesi, whose contract expires in June, to their shortlist of transfer targets. Yes, the premium is paying £20m for him and maybe he would have come at the end of the season. But the necessity is there now. If they want to be successful at the end of the season, they can’t really afford to have that [weaknesses] come March and April time when push comes to shove.
