After finishing first in Group C in the preliminary round of the 2026 Olympic men’s hockey tournament, the United States earned the No. 2 seed and a bye into the quarterfinals.
That quarterfinal contest was Wednesday, as the U.S. faced off against No. 7 seed Sweden, which had defeated 10-seed Latvia in the qualification round. The Americans won 2-1 in overtime on a shot by Quinn Hughes (Minnesota Wild), and they will play third-seeded Slovakia in the semifinals.
