New Delhi: Unlike past encounters where India–Pakistan cricket match tickets sell out within hours, this Sunday’s highly anticipated Asia Cup fixture on September 14 is struggling to attract buyers.
Reports indicate that with just two days left, a large number of tickets remain unsold. Analysts cite skyrocketing ticket prices as the primary reason, though the absence of big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has also dampened enthusiasm.
According to official listings, ticket prices range from steep to exorbitant:
VIP East Stand tickets: ₹2.5 lakh, including premium seating, food and beverages, parking passes, VIP lounge, and restroom access.
Royal Box tickets: ₹2.3 lakh.
Sky Box tickets: ₹1.6 lakh.
Platinum tickets: ₹75,000.
Cheapest category: nearly ₹10,000 for two seats.
Observers note that while India–Pakistan matches traditionally generate massive demand and sold-out stadiums, this unusual dip in sales underscores growing concerns over pricing strategies and the lack of cricketing superstars on the field.
