Dubai – International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee Andy Pycroft has formally apologized to Pakistan’s team captain and manager following a controversy during the India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pycroft expressed regret for his conduct on September 14, when he prevented the captains of both teams from shaking hands before the match – a move that drew strong criticism from Pakistan’s cricket authorities.
Pycroft described the incident as a “miscommunication” and assured the Pakistani side that it was not intentional.
The ICC has also agreed to review the matter as part of an inquiry into possible breaches of the Code of Conduct during the high-profile encounter.
