BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Officials with Amtrak have announced a new partnership to improve travel options between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Starting on Monday, August 18, you will be able to purchase a single ticket to ride a bus with Greyhound or FlixBus between both cities and then an Amtrak train between New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama. The companies are also syncing up their schedules to cut down on wait times.
“So, if you don’t have a car, and a lot of people don’t want a car, can’t afford a car, and would rather not own one,” said Marc Magliar, a spokesperson with Amtrak. “The more we can connect these parts of transportation together, the better it is for everybody. Fewer cars on the road, fewer people who couldn’t or shouldn’t be driving.”
Tickets will be on sale by the end of the week.
Amtrak will start its twice-a-day service between New Orleans and Mobile on Monday, August 18.
