Vietnam’s Sun PhuQuoc Airways is poised to transform the air travel industry with their new “resort-in-the-sky” model which promises to provide luxurious travel tailored specifically to tourists. Alongside travel industry leader Amadeus, known for their global travel technology solutions, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is positioned to enhance operations, improving the customer-centric journey. This partnership allows for the integration of Amadeus’ advanced systems, including the Altéa PSS, Amadeus Sky suite, and Amadeus Revenue Accounting, into the operations of Sun PhuQuoc Airways. Flight operations and scheduling will be further enhanced to ensure a smooth journey for the travelers from booking to landing. With focus on delivering an exceptional travel experience, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will offer an unprecedented standard of convenience and comfort integrating cutting-edge technology to air travel not just in Asia, but all around the globe.
Developed by Sun Group, one of Vietnam’s most influential tourism developers, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is set to disrupt the aviation landscape in Asia. With a focus on offering luxury and convenience, the airline will provide direct flights connecting Phu Quoc with major cities across Vietnam and international destinations. This move comes at a time when both the aviation and tourism sectors in Asia are seeing remarkable growth, making it the perfect moment for SPA to tap into this booming market.
The core of Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ operations will be powered by Amadeus’ Altéa PSS, a solution widely recognized by leading global airlines. Altéa will streamline several essential services for the airline, including booking, ticketing, inventory management, departure control, and customer management. This all-in-one system will not only ensure smooth operations but also deliver a personalized and data-driven experience for customers at every step of their journey.
In addition to Altéa PSS, Sun PhuQuoc Airways will implement Amadeus SkyWORKS, a sophisticated schedule management tool that allows airlines to optimize flight planning. SkyWORKS enables the creation of flexible and efficient flight schedules by providing real-time data and various views to evaluate different business scenarios. This flexibility is crucial for the airline, as it navigates the complexities of building a robust hub-and-spoke network.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways is also adopting Amadeus Revenue Accounting, a tool that will enable the airline to track sales revenue and reconcile data in real-time. This will allow SPA to ensure greater financial efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes, optimizing the overall revenue management framework.
“We are proud to be a trusted partner of Sun PhuQuoc Airways as it launches this exciting new business. By providing data-driven insights and a modular design approach, we aim to support the airline’s ambitions in delivering high-quality service from day one and to successfully expand its reach into a successful future in the travel space” saysJavier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Amadeus
The airline’s hub-and-spoke network will have Phu Quoc Island at its center, establishing the destination as a vital connection point for both domestic and international travel. This strategic positioning aligns with the broader vision for Phu Quoc, which is poised to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2027. The event will bring together thousands of delegates from 21 APEC member countries, further solidifying the island’s status as an international hub.
The partnership between Sun PhuQuoc Airways and Amadeus comes at a pivotal moment for both the airline and the region. Phu Quoc, known as “Pearl Island” for its breathtaking natural beauty, is rapidly establishing itself as one of Southeast Asia’s top resort destinations. As the island garners growing international interest, Vietnam’s tourism sector is reflecting this boom. According to official data, Vietnam saw a 23% year-on-year increase in visitors during the first four months of the year, with 7.7 million tourists arriving. This surge in tourism offers Sun PhuQuoc Airways an ideal opportunity to meet the increasing demand for air travel.
The Amadeus 2025 Travel Trends report further supports this optimism, forecasting that Asia will account for 35% of global leisure travel spending by 2025. In addition, the region is expected to see a 50% growth in air passenger numbers over the next 15 years, making it an ideal time for Sun PhuQuoc Airways to enter the market.
Phu Quoc is going to be one of the leading travel hubs of the region; this positions Sun PhuQuoc Airways as a key contender in the aviation industry of the Asia-Pacific region. The airline is adapted on providing a resort-like service during the flight and along with Amadeus’ innovative solutions for airlines, PhuQuoc Airways will be poised to meet the market’s demand for business and tourism travel. While Phu Quoc is poised to advance as a global tourist attraction, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is all set to emerge as one of the major boosters of the tourism and aviation industry in the region.
