SHARM EL-SHEIKH, EGYPT — A landmark Gaza peace agreement was signed in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, marking a major diplomatic breakthrough aimed at restoring lasting peace in the region.
Leaders and representatives from the United States, Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar signed the accord as guarantor nations. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also attended the high-profile signing ceremony.
In his opening address, U.S. President Donald Trump praised the leadership of Qatar, Türkiye, and Egypt for their pivotal roles in brokering the deal. “This is a historic day for the Middle East. The Gaza Peace Agreement represents a major victory for diplomacy and cooperation,” President Trump stated, adding that Egypt’s contribution was “instrumental” in achieving consensus.
The agreement is expected to pave the way for a durable ceasefire, humanitarian reconstruction efforts in Gaza, and renewed dialogue for a two-state solution.
