Russia has expressed concern over recent clashes along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, calling on both countries to show restraint and resolve disputes through diplomatic channels.
In a statement issued by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Moscow said it was “following with concern” the reports of renewed violence along the border on October 10–11, noting that Kabul and Islamabad had offered differing interpretations regarding the nature and causes of the confrontation.
“Exchanges of airstrikes and gunfire have spread across the entire border area, including the Pashtun tribal belt. There have been casualties among military personnel on both sides,” Zakharova said.
She added that, according to the latest information, the situation appeared to be stabilizing — a development Moscow welcomed.
“We call on Kabul and Islamabad to exercise restraint and forbearance, and to address any disagreements through political and diplomatic means,” Zakharova emphasized, expressing hope for the resumption of constructive dialogue between the two “friendly countries,” particularly on issues of counterterrorism and regional security.
