ISLAMABAD (International Desk) — Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed that the government engaged in negotiations with Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) until the very last moment, but the group refused to compromise.
Naqvi clarified that no action has been — or will be — taken against any religious seminary or scholars except those directly linked to TLP’s leadership. “There is no permission for action against any madrassa or ulema beyond TLP officials,” he stated.
The minister further alleged that TLP’s recent rally “was not for Palestine, but to demand the release of terrorists,” adding that the group continuously introduced new conditions during talks.
The statement highlights deepening tensions between the government and the hardline religious group, which has staged multiple protests in recent years under the banner of defending religious causes.
