GAZA CITY — Israeli airstrikes once again shattered a fragile ceasefire in Gaza, killing 11 members of a single family, including seven children and three women, local health officials confirmed on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses reported that the airstrike targeted a civilian vehicle in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City. All passengers inside the car were killed instantly. The victims were said to be returning home when the Israeli jet carried out the strike.
The attack came despite a ceasefire agreement brokered earlier this week, as Israeli military operations have continued intermittently across the Gaza Strip, raising fears of renewed escalation in the region.
In a statement, Hamas strongly condemned the Israeli aggression, calling it “a deliberate targeting of innocent civilians” and “a blatant violation” of the truce reached in Cairo under Egyptian mediation.
“The international community must immediately intervene to stop Israel’s crimes and hold it accountable,” a Hamas spokesperson said.
Human rights organizations also denounced the strike, labeling it a “crime against humanity” and warning that Israel’s repeated breaches of ceasefire agreements undermine prospects for lasting peace in the region.
