TEHRAN: Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, according to Iranian judiciary-linked outlet Mizan News Agency.
The report, citing a public prosecutor, said the individual was convicted of providing classified information to Mossad and was arrested while attempting to flee the country. The man was described as a “handler” for the Israeli intelligence service.
Iran has in recent years claimed to have dismantled several Israeli spy networks and executed multiple individuals accused of collaborating with Mossad.
The Israeli intelligence agency is believed to maintain an active espionage network across the Middle East, including inside Iran — where Tehran alleges that local operatives have been recruited to gather sensitive information.
