LAHORE – Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari announced that terrorism cases will be registered against the financiers of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), with authorities having identified 3,800 individuals allegedly involved in supporting the group.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Bukhari clarified that no mosque is being demolished and Khadim Rizvi’s grave will not be relocated, but emphasized that gatherings at the site for fundraising or incitement will not be permitted.
She said that during recent TLP protests, false propaganda about casualties was spread, while the Muridka incident resulted in the deaths of three civilians and injuries to 45 people. Meanwhile, 110 police personnel were also injured amid violent demonstrations.
Bukhari added that TLP supporters burned police and Rescue 1122 vehicles and even used trucks loaded with bricks during clashes.
She further revealed that during the search of Saad Rizvi’s residence, officials recovered 1.92 kilograms of gold, 898 grams of silver, 69 branded watches, gold bangles, 12 bracelets, gold necklaces, silver crowns, rings, and 50,000 Indian rupees. She added that 91 bank accounts belonging to Saad Rizvi have been frozen.
