ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy has achieved a major success in the Arabian Sea by intercepting narcotics worth $972.4 million, dealing a severe blow to international drug trafficking networks and reaffirming its professional excellence in maritime security operations.
According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the successful operation was carried out by PNS Yarmook, operating under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force (CTF-150) — an international coalition focused on maintaining maritime security and curbing illicit activities in regional waters.
Within just 48 hours, the Pakistan Navy intercepted two suspicious vessels and recovered two tons of crystal meth, 350 kilograms of ice, and 50 kilograms of cocaine. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth nearly one billion U.S. dollars on the international market.
Saudi Royal Navy Commander Fahad Al-Juwaid lauded the Pakistan Navy’s performance, describing the operation as a “remarkable example of international maritime cooperation.” He emphasized that such collaborative actions play a crucial role in ensuring peace, stability, and security across the region’s vital sea lanes.
The operation highlights Pakistan’s growing role as a key maritime security partner in international counter-narcotics and anti-smuggling efforts across the Arabian Sea and beyond.
