Islamabad, Pakistan Report by M.Saleem — A senior police official, Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar, reportedly took his own life in the federal capital on Thursday.
According to police sources, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Aabpara Police Station, where SP Adeel Akbar allegedly took a service pistol from his staff and shot himself. He was rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other senior officials arrived at PIMS Hospital following the tragic event. Authorities stated that the reason behind the suicide remains unclear, and a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Medical sources confirmed that a post-mortem examination is being conducted at PIMS Hospital by a medico-legal officer, with the initial report expected to be shared with the police soon.
The incident has shocked the law enforcement community, raising concerns over the mental health and well-being of officers serving under high-pressure conditions.
