Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet of Pakistan has approved a ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) under the Anti-Terrorism Act, following the recommendation of the Punjab government.
According to official sources, after the Cabinet’s approval, the Ministry of Interior has been directed to initiate further legal and administrative action to enforce the ban.
The decision was taken unanimously by the Cabinet, declaring the TLP a proscribed organization due to its involvement in activities deemed harmful to public order and national security.
Officials stated that the move reflects the government’s resolve to curb extremism and protect citizens’ lives and property, emphasizing that no group will be allowed to challenge the state’s writ or disrupt peace through violence or intimidation.
