LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora inaugurated the newly constructed block of Christian Girls High School Martinpur during his visit to Nankana Sahib on Friday. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tasleem Akhtar Rao, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Khokhar, and Sardar Surjeet Singh Kanwal.
Following the inauguration, the Minister visited Gurdwara Janam Asthan, where he reviewed the ongoing renovation and restoration works and personally inspected security, accommodation, and other facilities for Sikh pilgrims. The visiting delegation also welcomed Sikh devotees arriving from abroad, who expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the local administration.
Minister Arora announced that celebrations marking the 556th Birth Anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak will take place across Pakistan from November 4 to 13, with main ceremonies in Nankana Sahib from November 4 to 6, expected to attract thousands of pilgrims from around the world.
Highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to interfaith harmony, Arora said the country “remains a beacon of peace, love, and coexistence.” He noted that Pakistan’s opening of the Kartarpur Corridor reflects goodwill towards Indian Sikh devotees, expressing regret that India continues to politicize religious matters instead of promoting people-to-people harmony.
