LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, under the supervision of Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) and Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, has dispatched flood relief goods to support flood-affected families across various areas of Punjab, including Kasur, Muzaffargarh (Seetpur & Alipur), Jhang, and Narowal (Shakargarh & Zafarwal).
While addressing the flood relief goods distribution ceremony, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that livestock serves as the primary source of livelihood for the rural population, and this year’s devastating floods have inflicted severe economic losses on livestock farmers. He expressed gratitude to all donors who placed their trust in UVAS for the relief initiative.
Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani emphasized that UVAS has always ensured transparency in delivering aid to those in need, adding that the university is making every possible effort to assist the maximum number of flood-affected and deserving families this year.
Each UVAS Flood Relief Volunteer Team comprises two faculty members, eight students, one driver, one attendant, and one security guard. These teams are being deployed from the university’s sub-campuses — Ravi Campus Pattoki, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang, Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Narowal, and Para Veterinary Institute Karor Lal Eason Layyah.
The teams are distributing essential relief items including food rations, clothing, and medicines, along with providing veterinary services and vaccination to protect animals from diseases in the flood-affected areas.
A large number of representatives from different UVAS campuses and members of the UVAS Flood Relief Management Teams attended the ceremony.
