Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has confirmed that the government has not yet made a final decision on deploying Pakistani troops to Gaza, though the matter is currently under consideration.
Speaking on Geo News program “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath”, the minister did not rule out the possibility of Pakistan participating in a potential peacekeeping or protection mission in Gaza.
When asked about reports circulating in international media suggesting that Pakistani forces may join a multinational peace force for Gaza, Asif said:
> “Gaza is very close to my heart. We have love for the people there. If the Islamic world decides to take such a step and Pakistan becomes part of it, it would be an honor for us to play a role in protecting and supporting our brothers.”
In response to a question about whether Parliament and coalition partners had been consulted on the issue, Asif clarified that the matter is still in process and no final decision has been taken yet.
He assured that any decision would be made through proper channels, with Parliament, allies, and national institutions being taken into confidence before proceeding.
The minister’s remarks come amid rising speculation over the possible involvement of Muslim-majority countries in efforts to ensure peace and humanitarian protection in Gaza, following ongoing hostilities in the region.
